Wedding Photographer covering London, the UK and Worldwide.
Hello my name is Phil Bourne, I am a professional wedding photographer based in London, covering UK weddings and also overseas weddings. I have been a full time professional photographer for over 6 years and have now photographed well over 100 weddings.
My style of wedding photography combines creative portraiture with reportage, or documentary photography.
Every wedding is unique and I strive to capture the true personality of each couple, telling the story of your wedding day in the most natural, stylish and visually appealing way possible.
I love the buzz of shooting weddings - the laughter, the tears and the expressions of true heartfelt emotion. I feel genuinely honoured to be part of such a special day.
If you would like to find out more about hiring me to shoot your wedding and want to check my availabilty then please get in touch. I shoot weddings all over the UK and also destination weddings, so don't be afraid to contact me no matter where your wedding will be.
After many years spent as a semi-pro musician working in the magazine publishing industry as my day job, I found myself at a crossroads in the mid-noughties. At that point I reignited an interest in photography (I was first bitten by the bug whilst at art college many years ago) and very soon realised that photography was the way forward for me, was something that I was totally passionate about and was the next chapter in my life. I turned professional in early 2009 and haven’t looked back since.
As well as being fortunate enough to have shot numerous weddings for some really fantastic clients, I have also had some of my editorial work published in many high profile international publications including NME, Rolling Stone, Q Magazine, Mojo, The New York Times, Time Magazine, The Times, The Guardian and The Independent amongst many others.
So far my life as a professional wedding photographer in London has been a great adventure and one that hopefully has many more creative twists and turns, fun times and interesting surprises to come.

My approach to wedding photography
Every wedding is different and I treat each one as a unique event, so I’m always looking for the individual angle. I do have a pattern that I work to (to ensure that I deliver a guaranteed standard of work) but I try to adapt to each wedding in it’s own way and push my own boundaries as much as possible. I do not reel out a set repertoire of shots for every wedding (though I do have a repertoire to fall back on) but rather adapt to each event and the individual character of each client. We all have a unique personality and my aim is to capture this in the most natural and visually appealing way possible and to faithfully tell the story of your special day. So what might work for one wedding client may not work for another, which is why it’s important for me to not just impose the same shots and poses over and over again. I enjoy a challenge and the excitement of the day and want my clients to have a totally unique and beautiful collection of wedding photographs to treasure.
It all starts with the first meeting. Throughout the whole process it’s a case of getting to know each other, learning about your individual tastes, your plans for the day and your back story, so that on the day I have a clear vision of how to best capture your wedding story and so you don’t have to concern yourself with anything other than enjoying your day.
My style of wedding photography combines creative portraiture with reportage, or documentary photography. In essence what I do on a typical wedding can be broken down into three categories: Creative Portraiture, Candid Moments and Relaxed Group Shots.
I like visually strong, eye catching imagery, something that has a wow factor, so I try to create that when I do the bride and groom portraits. When not doing this style of creative portraiture (which perhaps only accounts for 15-20% of the time on a typical wedding) I am telling your wedding story through classic documentary or reportage photography. My approach here is to become almost ‘invisible’ and to capture all the emotions, events and details of the day - the laughter, the tears, the expressions of true love in a natural and visually striking way.
